Frequently Asked Questions

Gentle answers to the questions people often ask before they reach out. If yours is not here, simply ask.

What is spiritual care, and how is it different from therapy?

Spiritual care is a compassionate, one-on-one conversation about what matters most to you: meaning, hope, faith, loss and the questions of the heart. It is consultation, not psychotherapy. It does not diagnose or treat any condition, and it can sit alongside care from a doctor, psychologist or other licensed professional.

Who is spiritual care for?

Anyone who would like a calm, non-judgemental space to be heard. Happy Spiritual Care is grounded in Islamic tradition and open to people of every faith and none. Muslim, Christian, Jewish, Hindu, Buddhist, spiritual but not religious, or still searching: you are welcome.

Do I need to be religious?

No. You do not need to practise a faith, hold any particular belief or know religious language. We begin wherever you are, and faith is part of the conversation only as much as you want it to be.

What is the difference between Islamic spiritual care and general spiritual care?

Gulsen is a Muslim spiritual care provider, so she can draw on the Qur'an, prayer, dua and Islamic tradition when that is meaningful to you. For people of other faiths or none, sessions focus on your own values, beliefs and sources of meaning. The approach is always guided by you.

What is the free 20-minute introduction?

A relaxed 20-minute video call at no cost. You can share a little about what brings you here, ask how sessions work, and decide together whether to continue. There is no obligation.

What happens in a first session?

A calm, unhurried conversation. You set the pace and the topics. Gulsen listens deeply, asks gentle questions and may offer a reflection or a small practice. There is no script, and you never need to share more than you want to. You can also read what to expect in a first online session.

How do online sessions work?

Sessions are one-on-one by video call, so you can join from anywhere in the world. You need a quiet, private space, a phone or computer with a camera, and a stable internet connection. The video link is sent to you by email before the session.

Which languages are sessions offered in?

English and Turkish.

How long are sessions, and how much do they cost?

The introduction is free and lasts 20 minutes. A single session is CAD 150, a package of 5 sessions is CAD 650 and a package of 10 sessions is CAD 1,250. See the pricing page for approximate USD and EUR amounts.

How many sessions are typical?

It varies. Some people find one conversation enough, while others prefer to meet regularly for a while. There is no fixed number, and you decide how often and how long to meet.

Is what I share private?

Yes. Conversations are treated with care, respect and confidentiality. Please avoid sending sensitive details by email; you can share them in your session instead. Read our privacy policy for details.

How do I book?

Start with the free 20-minute introduction on the booking page. Choose a preferred day and time, and Gulsen will reply by email to confirm.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule?

Please give at least 48 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule so the time can be offered to someone else; if something unexpected comes up, just let us know and we'll find a new time together.
